Notice how collegiality is explicitly aligned--by Provost Roberta Matthews, no less--with BC's commitment to feminizing its faculty and reshaping its curriculum along feminist lines. Brooklyn College's new collegiality criterion is not just a means of getting rid of junior faculty who don't conform to senior faculty's wishes (on both scholarly and interpersonal levels); it is also a means of installing a politicized pedagogical norm at BC, one that junior faculty--particularly male junior faculty--disobey at their peril.
