Very early London footage

"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." --Samuel Johnson, to his faithful biographer and sidekick, Boswell

Extraordinary. And though I haven't been to London in nearly 12 years (which is far too long), Dr. Johnson was right.

What wonderful footage! So real people lived back then, not the cardboard characters one finds in history books...who knew.

"So real people lived back then"...it also turns out that historical epochs that we tend to think of in black & white actually happened in color. See the great color photos of Czarist Russia and the American Depression by searching "czarist" at my blog.

Thank you Erin, and thank you David. For anyone who hasn't checked out the Russian photos, do so.
