ROTC goes mainstream

After years of reasoned argument, the case for restoring ROTC to private college and university campuses that have banned it for political reasons (first Vietnam, now DADT) is finally being recognized for the principled and fair-minded thing that it is. Here's CNN on Harvard's increasingly anachronistic attitude toward ROTC -- and why the faculty should rethink their stance on it.

Comments:

Whether or not Harvard, Columbia, and company let ROTC back on campus, this is going to be a contentious issue until the military reconsiders Don't Ask Don't Tell. Students have been kicked out of ROTC at Cornell and other institutions for their open sexual orientation.

Certainly policies should be revisited on all sides. It wouldn't really bother me if the Ivies blinked first, but the ROTC (and the military) shouldn't expect any special deference: a misguided policy is a misguided policy.
